Afternoon of Dance and Mahjong at the Kingston Museum

The event has been organised to accompany the
exhibition Dora Gordine: Sculptor, Artist, Designer.

The afternoon began with a dance performance by the Kingston Chinese
Association Junior Dance Group and was followed by an introduction to, and
an opportunity to play, the game of Mah Jong while sitting amongst the
sculptures on display.

This year the KCA Annual General Meeting was held at the Milaap Centre.

Performance at the V & A

KCA junior dancers were invited to perform a Chinese Classical Dance at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

12.30 pm to 5.00 pm
KCA organised Annual Showcase to celebrate the Year of the Ox. The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, Councillor David Berry was present at this event together with an attendance of around 250 people.
There were over 20 acts on the programme which included various traditional and modern songs and dances, acrobatics, magic show and classical music.

Chinese New Year in Kingston 

Kingston Market Square
11.00 am to 4.30 pm
In association with Kingston First, KCA organised this event in The Memorial Square. We had various stalls offering Chinese food and drinks. Other stalls present were Chinese Calligraphy, Origami, Chinese Herbal Medicine, ornaments and costumes and hand-made embroidery.
The square was reserved for continuous performances including Lion Dance, Tai Chi, Martial Arts, Chinese traditional Dances and Music.

This year our Chinese Opera showcase was held at the Tolworth Girls School.

Mid Autumn Festival Party 
and Karaoke Fund Raising Evening 

This year the Mid Autumn Festival was held at the Finesse Restaurant. The festivities included a sponsored Karaoke night to raise funds for KCA for the coming year to help pay for various activities like dancing and musical classes.

The event was a great success.

Day trip to Southend on Sea

KCA organised a trip for members and friends to Southend on Sea.
A coach with 51 people and a seven seater car set off from Tolworth at 8.30 am.
We were entertained by Mr Tsoi and the Southend Chinese Association. Lunch and Dinner was provided by the local Chinese Restaurant and most of the members had a good time on the Pier and sight seeing although the weather was not very good.

Official Opening of the Sir William Rous Unit at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust

Some of our KCA members were invited to the official opening by HRH Princess Alexandra KG GCVO. KCA helped to raise funds for the unit in 2007.

Mah Jong Competition

KCA organised it's very first Mah Jong Competition at the Milaap Centre.
There were 32 competitors and prizes and trophies were awarded to the first four winners after about three hours play. The first prize went to Mrs. Doris Mok, 2nd prize to Mr Ng Yiu Sum, 3rd prize to Miss Suri Chan and 4th prize to Mr. Hau Fuk Hing.

Dragon Boat Dumpling Festival  

This year the Dumpling Festival was held at the Milaap Centre. As usual the turnout was good and members and friends enjoyed the food and dumpling and karaoke.

A Chinese Evening in aid of The Mayor's Charity

KCA organised A Chinese Evening to raise funds for the Mayor's Charity. This was held at the Guildhall, Kingston upon Thames.
The programme included an Auction and Raffle draw.
Entertainment included Chinese Classical Instrumental recitals by Mr. Cheng-Ying Chuang, Chinese Classical Dances by Miss Jui-Wei Hung, Miss Qing Qing Li and the KCA Junior Dancers.
